Eliza Dushku opens up about sobriety and battling addiction

Eliza Dushku, who I fondly remember as the second best part of “Bring It On,” is opening up about her struggle with substance abuse.

According to Perez Hilton, the 36-year-old revealed she is a recovering alcoholic and addict, and has been sober for eight years. Speaking at the New Hampshire Youth Summit on Opioid Awareness, she told the audience that drugs were fun— until they weren’t.

“It was fun, and I loved it, until it wasn’t. Drugs didn’t love me. They didn’t love my family. They definitely didn’t love my friends that died.”

She went on to explain that she started her journey by getting sober for her family, but she ended getting sober for herself. “Today I’m sober for me, and I’m sober for you. Because drugs and alcohol are powerful, but we are more powerful.”

Look at you, Dushku. Dropping inspiring gems. Congratulations on your sobriety — for real.
