Trump inspires episode of ‘Law & Order: SVU’

A Donald Trump-like character is under investigation in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s”upcoming episode titled, “Unstoppable.” As we all know,“‘Law & Order” has a long history of developing stories that were inspired by real-life lawsuits.

According toBuzzfeed, several details and scenes of “Unstoppable” were encouraged by a real-life lawsuit against Trump when a woman, “Jane Doe,” accused the Republican candidate of raping her in the 1990s when she was only 13 years old. Although Trump has continually denied these claims, this doesn’t stop one of America’s top investigating shows from mimicing these accusations.

In this forthcoming episode, Olivia Benson leads an investigation on a “wealthy and boorish” politician, as described by a source inVariety. This politician’s campaign goes down the drain after many women throw damaging allegations at him left and right. ActorGary Colewill guest star and play the role of this politician.

This episode of “Law & Order”was originally scheduled to air in September but has been repeatedly pushed back. After deciding to air the episode the day after the presidential election, concerns by NBC regarding the election, changed their mind again. They decided that they couldn’t air it the day after Election Day because it would look like a “politically motivated decision.” The episode is now programmed to air on Oct. 26.

Sharon Pannozzo, an NBC publicist, told BuzzFeed News, “As a reminder, SVU is fiction.”
