If there is one thing the worlds of art and business have in common, it’s inspiration. Every great idea has a kernel of something special at its core that didn’t necessarily come from hard work — just being in the right state of mind.

But how do you get there? Though Lorna Jane Clarkson is known for her activewear line, her new book “Inspired” is all about taking a holistic approach to getting in touch with your creative side. The book’s active living philosophy goes beyond the yoga mat to find what it takes to get inspired, from defining your personal style to natural beauty remedies.

We got Clarkson’s three big tips to learn, grow and improve, plus her healthy breakfast recipe of filling, seasonal ingredients to give your day a delicious and mindful start.

Set a daily intention: “This could mean committing to a fitness class with a girlfriend, eating something green at every meal that day and remembering to tell your mom, sister or friend that you love them,” she says. Just make sure to set your goal as soon as you wake up to give your day direction immediately.

Think positive:Studies have shown what you already know: Your positive attitude makes others feel — and act — good, too. “I believe in the power of positivity, and know that how I choose to think affects my life and the lives of those around me,” she says.

Eat right:Creativity needs brain food — not junk. Choose what you eat mindfully.“I believe the connection between what we eat and the way we feel is incredibly powerful,” says Clarkson. “So ditch dieting and make a commitment to love and nourish your body.”

Ingredients for fritters:

1 small zucchini, grated
2 cobs fresh corn
1/2 cup chickpea flour (besan)
3 eggs, whisked
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 spring onion, thinly sliced
Himalayan rock salt
Black pepper (to taste)
Coconut oil (for frying)

Ingredients for salsa:

1 medium avocado
2 tbsp. goat cheese
1 ½ tbsp. lemon juice
¼ cup chopped coriander or parsley
Fresh coriander (garnish)

Directions:Combine zucchini and corn in a bowl. In a separate bowl whisk the flour and remaining ingredients except for oil, until there are no lumps. Combine both bowls and mix well.

Heat coconut oil in a fry pan on medium heat, then add heaped tablespoons of batter, leaving enough space between each fritter to flip them. Fry for 3-4 minutes each side.

Combine all salsa ingredients in a mixing bowl and mash with a fork.

Makes 12 fritters.
