A forgotten phone landed a man in handcuffs after he allegedly tried to rape a woman at a Battery Park hotel.

Kareem Walker, 31, of Queens, was at the upscale Conrad New York Hotel on North End Avenue with two women whom he had been at a club with this weekend, the New York Post reported.

About 6:30 a.m. Sunday Walker allegedly tried to rape one of the women, but the 20-year-old vicitim’s friend stopped him and the two struggled. According to the Post, the women called hotel security who saw Walker “allegedly hoisting a bottle of Moet champagne above his head as if he was about to smash it down on the women.”

He then reportedly fled, leaving his phone.

The hotel called police, and when Walker came back later that morning he was arrested and chargedwith attempted rape, attempted grand larceny (for trying to take one of the women’s phones, according to the New York Daily News), unlawful imprisonment, assault and criminal mischief.
