A 21-year-old Bronx man was killed earlier this month after he ran his mini-bike into a car in the Longwood neighborhood of the Bronx, police said Wednesday.
Gene Ortiz was hit around 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 9. Police said Ortiz was riding his mini-bike on Westchester Avenue near Southern Boulevard when he tried to make a u-turn crossing a double yellow line into the path of an oncoming Toyota Camry. Ortiz was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition with head trauma, and died two days later. The Camry driver, a 65-year-old man, has not been charged with a crime.
The NYPD Collision Squad is investigating the accident.
