Victor Cruz expects to play on Sunday, a welcome bit of news for a New York Giants offense that has been efficient over the past four games, all wins.
Cruz practiced on Thursday, his injured ankle apparently responding well. After missing the entirety of the 2015 season, Cruz has been solid in his comeback year for the Giants and has proven to be reliable as a foil to All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
The Bears are allowing 243 yards per game in the air, 12th best in the NFL this year.
“The injury is doing well. I practiced today and everything feels good. I was running around, making some plays, so everything is feeling good,” Cruz said on Thursday to reporters following practice.
On Wednesday, Cruz was limited in practice. Thursday he was able to push more.
When asked if he plans to play against the Bears, Cruz didn’t leave much room for interpretation.
“Absolutely,” Cruz said. “Sunday at one o’clock, I plan to be out there helping my team win.”
