Real snow has canceled Central Park's annual fake snow party.
"Due to an active blizzard watch and a citywide hazardous travel advisory notice, Winter Jam 2016 is canceled," the NYC Parks & Rec Department announced this afternoon. The event will not be rescheduled.
What was originally forecast as about a foot of snow arriving overnight on Friday has turned into blizzard conditions, with strong winds and possible flooding. No service changes have been made to public transit, and salt spreaders are headed out on Friday while 1,650 plows will mobilize once more than 2 inches of snow has accumulated.
