A frightening recall notice by the FDA says a company is recalling every single bottle of its "Licorice Coughing Liquid" – after it was found to contain the highly addictive opioid morphine.

"Consumers using this product may not be aware they are ingesting morphine," the FDA explained in the recall notice. "The product was distributed to Chinese grocery stores in various cities in California, New Jersey, Hawaii, Illinois, Ohio and Nevada."

The company that distributed the morphine cough syrup, Master Herbs, Inc., is located in California. The FDA added that consumers with questions regarding the recall should contact Master Herbs at 626-319-9915, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST or via email at 999herbs@gmail.com.

Consumers should immediately stop using the product and return it to its place of purchase. Likewise, the FDA advised retailers and wholesalers to "quarantine any remaining inventory and make arrangements to return the product."

Americans who believe they used this product and experienced adverse side effects are advised to immediately contact their physician.
