Multiple outlets are reporting a shooting at a mall in North Carolina.

NBC affiliate WCNC there in North Carolina reported on Twitter that "viewers are reporting shots fired inside Northlake Mall."

Likewise, local station WSOC tweeted that it also was investigating similar reports of shots fired inside the mall.

FOX46 Charlotte reporter Jami Nielson explained on social media that "one shooter is apparently down and police are looking for another suspect." Her colleague, Chuck Roads, added that a SWAT team was deployed.

Northlake Mall is located there in Charlotte.

The reports are particularly disturbing as the period of time between the Saturday before Christmas and Christmas Eve is typically one of America's busiest shopping periods of the year, according to researchers.
