Bernie Sanders has the ice cream guys on his side.

Ahead of next week's primary, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, the Burlington, Vermont-based founders of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, were in Philadelphia urging voters to support Vermont senator Bernie Sanders' campaign for president.

Ben & Jerry were in Rittenhouse Square Wednesday for an hour giving away free scoops of "Bernie's Yearning," a special Sanders-themed flavor they created to promote his campaign.

The ice cream men will also be serving up free scoops from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Philadelphia Brewing Co. at 2440 Frankford Ave. on Wednesday night. Guests are being asked to   RSVP.

Sanders is currently trailing Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic nomination for presidential candidate. Clinton won Tuesday's primary in New York 58 to 42 percent. Clinton has so far won 1,428 delegates to Sanders' 1,151.
