A local wedding planner makes her Food Network debut Friday night when she appears on “American Diner Revival,” and pulls off the ceremony in 48 hours.
Tiffany Gillepsie owner of To the “T” Events in Philly’s West Oak Lane section, puts her skills to work in more ways than she imagined when she helps the owners of Linda Kay’s Ole’ Green Ridge Diner in Scranton.
“I received a phone call from a producer for the show. They were asking about if I knew any wedding vendors in the Scranton area," Gillepsie told Metro.
"We stated talking about their needs for the show and they explained they were trying to surprise this couple with a wedding because the couple had been putting off their wedding to put money into the diner.”
On the show, hosts Ty Pennington and Amanda Freitag help with the complete makeover and restoration of restaurants on the decline.
When the hosts stepped in to help the owners of Linda Kay’s Ole’ Green Ridge Diner, Linda Kay and James Lovelace, they quickly realized the couple had been putting off their wedding and dumping all their money into their failing business. That’s when the show producers called up Gillepsie to intervene.
“I asked who was planning the wedding. They said they had no one. I said they needed one. That’s kind of how I got my foot in the door," Gillepsie said.
“Not only was I able to participate in the actual revival of the diner, but I was also able to plan their wedding. I like to say that God cracked the door and I kicked it open.”
Tonight’s airing will be the 204th of “American Diner Revival” on The Food Network. It will also be the first episode that includes both a restaurant revitalization and a wedding ceremony. The show airs at 8:30 p.m.
