A second Boston Public Schools employee in a month has been charged with indecent assault and battery for allegedly improperly touching a child.

Charles Ramsey, an 85-year-old paraprofessional at Higginson/Lewis School in Roxbury was arraigned in court Monday after allegedly touching a female special needs student at the school inappropriately last week.

Ramsey has resigned from his job. Monday, prosecutors would only say the student is under 14 years of age.

“There is absolutely nothing more important to me than the safety and well-being of our children,” said Boston Mayor Marty Walsh through a statement. “Any incident in our schools is distressing, but this is particularly upsetting and I have been stunned and deeply disturbed by these allegations.”

Earlier this month, Boston Public Schools employee from Jamaica Plan was arraigned for allegedly touching an 8-year- old child inappropriately at a Boston hospital.

Juan P. Cortes, 25, faces one count of indecent assault and battery on a child for an incident at Boston University Medical Center.
