Chris Evans shows support for Jimmy Kimmel’s health care fight

Jimmy Kimmel is taking the fight to the GOP over its latest attempt to repeal Obamacare, but now the late-night host has a Marvel-ous star in his corner: Chris Evans.

After blasting Sen. Bill Cassidy, Sen. Lindsey Graham and Gov. Chris Christie on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” over the much criticized Cassidy-Graham bill, Kimmel has received both support and condemnation from across the political spectrum for his comments. The subject of health care has been personal subject for the comedian, whose infant son was diagnosed with congenital heart disease.

“Nobody outside of your buddies in Congress wants your bill,” Kimmel said on his show earlier this week while calling out Sen. Cassidy. “Only 12 percent of Americans supported the last one, and this one is worse.”

Evans, who’s never been afraid about getting political on social media, tweeted his support to Kimmel on Thursday.

“Fighting for the well-being of strangers with nothing to gain,” Evans wrote. “Empathy in motion. Thank you [Jimmy Kimmel], keep it up!”

The “Captain America” star also supported Kimmel for his televised, heartfelt plea to stop the previous attempt at repealing Obamacare. The actor even defended the comic’s honor against an ex-representative from Illinois, who shared an insensitive tweet about the comedian and his son’s health issues.

As for Kimmel, he’s continued to fight back against the new Cassidy-Graham bill with his platform on late-night TV. For the third night in a row, Kimmel used his monologue on Thursday to bash the proposed health care legislation.

“We haven’t seen this many people come forward to speak out against a bill since Cosby,” Kimmel joked.
