An early morning fire has claimed the life of an elderly woman in the Bronx, police said.
Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a fire inside 2874 Grand Concourse, between 198th and 199th Streets in the Bedford Park neighborhood of the Bronx.
After putting the fire out, firefighters found a 78-year-old unidentified woman in a third floor apartment kitchen. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said there were no other injuries, and no one else was displaced by the fire.
