Woody Harrelson had to get high to survive a dinner with Trump
Smoke 'em if y got 'em... and if you need to get through a dinner with No. 45, apparently.
Despite announcing earlier this year that he has given up cannabis, the name Woody Harrelson will always go with marijuana like peanut butter and jelly… and all the other munchie delights. After “30 solid years of just partying too f—king hard,” it’s been a year since he toked, the LBJ actor said. However, back in the day, a joint saved him from a torturous dinner with “narcissistic” Donald Trump.
Harrelson told Vulture in March that he doesn’t have a problem with smoking and he thinks “it’s great.” “Even cops say that the side effect is euphoria. … But when you’re doing it all the time, it just becomes … Well, you know. I feel like it was keeping me from being emotionally available.”
Which might explain why Harrelson had to call in Mary Jane to get through a 2004 dinner with Trump.
Recently, while on his good buddy and fellow cannabis-lover Bill Maher’s show, Harrelson promoted LBJ, in which he plays former president Lyndon B. Johnson.
“We’ve been friends for a very long time,” Harrelson admitted about his relationship with Maher, “and we’ve smoked a lot of joints together.”
As conversations tend to do, the topic turned to President Trump. Harrelson recalled the time the former governor of Minnesota, Jesse Ventura, invited him to dinner along with Trump. Ventura was hoping to court Trump to be his running mate for a 2004 Democratic bid for the presidency.
“It was brutal,” he said, thinking back on the meal.
“I had to sneak out and smoke a joint just to, like,” he gestured emphatically, “steel myself for the rest of this dinner.”
Marijuana to the rescue? We wonder if Trump noticed… and if it would bigly influence his stance on legalizing marijuana.
Harrelson also said he’s “never met a more narcissistic man” than Trump. Check out the video below.
