The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards are set to take place on Monday in New York City and we can’t wait to see which MTV Video Music Award nominees will win big this year. If you’re planning on watching the show, we’ll show you how to watch the entire award show online for free.

Before we let you in on how to watch the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards online for free, let’s go over who’s performing at the 2018 MTV VMAs.

Cardi B will open the 2018 Video Music Awards and this will be her first performance since giving birth to her first child on July 10.

Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, and Logic with Ryan Tedder are some of the entertainers who will perform at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall. Nicki Minaj, who just dropped her new album Queen will perform from a remote location during the event. The location hasn’t been released so we just have to wait and see what she has in store for us at the 35th annual MTV VMAs.

2018 MTV Video Music Awards: Jennifer Lopez is 2018 Vanguard Award winner

Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award: Jennifer Lopez

MTV announced that global superstar Jennifer Lopez will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. The entertainer will also perform live at the VMAs for the first time since 2001. Lopez is also nominated for two VMAs for her recent single Dinero featuring Cardi B.

Lopez joins the list of past Vanguard Award recipients that includes Michael Jackson, Madonna, Guns N’ Roses, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Rihanna and P!nk.

By now you should know the 2018 MTV VMAs will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Monday, August 20 at 9:00 p.m. EST.  You can use your TV provider login to watch the award show on MTV.com and other subscription-based services.

If you don’t have a TV subscription and want to see all the artist performances and unexpected celebrity moments, there are a few ways you can watch the VMAs for free.

Several Internet-based live TV services offer free trials of their TV services that allow you to watch on your TV via Apple TV, Roku etc., or on your computer or mobile device.

PlayStation Vue offers a free trial for new customers. The free trial allows you to experience premium channels including MTV so you can watch the award show.

Other TV streaming services such as DirecTV Now, PhiloTV, SlingTV offer free seven day trials. With Sling TV you may have to add one of their add-on packages, but it is still included in your free seven-day trial.

You will need to provide your credit card information when you sign-up, but your card won’t be charged until after your free trial expires. If your goal is to only use the free trial to watch the VMAs and maybe a few days after, we suggest you set your phone up to remind you to cancel the service on the fifth or sixth day just to make sure you’re not automatically charged for being a new subscriber.
