Why was Chris Brown arrested?
A 24-year-old woman alleges that Brown assaulted and raped her in a hotel suite in Paris earlier this month, according to the BBC.
She told the police that she met Brown and his friends the night between January 15 and 16 at the nightclub Le Crystal in central Paris, close to the Champs-Elysées. They later went to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
The singer and Brown’s publicists at Sony Music has not been willing to comment on the accusation or say what Brown was doing in Paris, though the singer did post an Instagram photo from the LAX studio in Paris.

Chris Brown's arrests: A timeline
This is not the first time Brown has been in with the law.
Brown has a number of previous convictions for violence, including a 2009 incident with then-girlfriend Rihanna. He pleaded guilty to felony assault for his attack on Rihanna and received five years’ probation and community service.
Four years later, Brown was charged with a misdemeanor after he attacked a man outside a hotel in Washington D.C. He was ordered rehab but was dismissed for violating facility rules so he ended up spending two months in custody.
In 2014, he pleaded guilty to assaulting a fan in Washington and also a woman in Las Vegas.
In 2016, he was arrested and charged with assault after he threatened a woman with a gun at his home.
Brown’s latest legal trouble happened only a month ago when he was charged with having a restricted species without a permit after he posted an Instagram post showing his daughter with a capuchin monkey.
He was later handed a misdemeanor charge for lacking a permit for the primate and is scheduled to be arraigned February 6 in Los Angeles.
