Equinox block party brings food and fitness to the Seaport

Boston health nuts should head to the Seaport on Saturday, as Equinox is hosting a special block party in celebration of their new location.

Dubbed the Block at Seaport Common, the event will feature plenty of workouts, including MetCon3, Pilates Fusion and Barre Burn. No fitness-themed party would be complete without a few head-to-head challenges, and the chance to go up against your friends or the fitness experts from Equinox.

If such rigorous exercise isn’t your cup of tea (or you just don’t want to do it on a Saturday), you can still check out the party’s rejuvenation areas, and meditate the day away in tranquility.

Another can’t-miss feature of the block party is an appearance by “Top Chef” alum Tiffani Faison. Many locals may have already tasted Faison’s cooking at her Fenway restaurants, Sweet Cheeks Q and Tiger Mama, but at the Block, guests will get the chance to chat with the culinary star, as well as take part in cooking demonstrations.

After getting sufficiently hungry from hearing about all that food, folks can visit a marketplace with local vendors and picnic spaces. Munch on offerings from food truck brands like Juice Press, Bon Me, RICE BURG, ChickChack Food Truck and Sate Grill, all while dancing to music, courtesy of DJ Abby Duren.

A panel discussion with bloggers Ashley and Katie Hess, co-host of NESN’s “Dining Playbook” Jenny Johnson as well as FOX25 anchor Kerry Kavanaugh will explore the experience of women in media, and what it’s like to constantly be in an “always on” media environment.

Whether you want to get a cutting-edge workout in, relax and breathe deeply or sample some of the best food trucks Boston has to offer, the Block at Seaport Common is perfect for any fitness enthusiast looking for a way to spend their Saturday.

If you go:

Sept. 23, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Seaport Common, 85 Northern Ave, eqxtheblock.eventbrite.com
