If you’re craving the sweet, sad buzz of Weezer’s “Pinkerton,” a live performance of the entire 1996 release will go down at this month’s edition of Emo Night. Weezer tribute band Tired of Sex will channel Rivers Cuomo’s Harvard days on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the Sinclair with the hilariously named fellow emo cover band, White Belts.

The dance night, hosted by local DJ Texas Mike and writer Luke O’Neil (who, full disclosure, scribes for us sometimes), typically comes up the third Thursday of each month, but will be on a Wednesday to accommodate the live performances this time around.

Emo Night was started by Texas Mike and Jeremy Karelis, who originally deemed it “Tell All Your Friends” a la Taking Back Sunday, and featured their best emo throwback playlists — first at Good Life, then Brick & Mortar, before settling down at the Sinclair with its new and official name. O’Neil entered the mix after writing about the event for Bullett, and the rest is history.

But what does it all mean???

“Emo music spans so many decades,” says Texas Mike. “Someone might want want to hear classic old emo or poppier stuff. Everyone has a different definition of what that music is, so we do our best to play everything.”

Texas Mike has some exciting plans in the works for his passion project:“I’d have to go back to me and Jeremy’s original idea with the Taking Back Sunday album,” he says. “For us, that’s where we fit in the most.”

Emo Night with Tired of Sex kicks off at 7 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the Sinclair in Cambridge. Tickets are $3 a head, and available through Ticketmaster.
