JetBlue offers reduced fares for those evacuating Florida due to hurricane

Jetblue reduces fares for those looking to evacuate Florida due to Hurricane Irma.

JetBlue is lowering their prices on tickets in every city in Florida where they operate so people can evacuate the state as Hurricane Irma continues to plow through the Caribbean.

According to JetBlue, the carrier is taking several steps to make it easier for people to leave Florida and avoid the path of Hurricane Irma as well as make changes to existing flights due to the extreme weather conditions

In a recent blog post, JetBlue announced they are offering reduced airfare in select markets in Florida. According to the blog, the fare will be in the range of $99 – $159 including government tax. The carrier will charge a maximum of $99 for the last available seat for direct flights and a maximum of $159 for connecting flights.

“Given that many Floridians are struggling to get out of harm’s way, this is welcome news,” Florida Sen. Bill Nelson said in a statement to Yahoo Finance.

For customers with existing reservations, JetBlue is waiving cancellation fees and other charges for rebooking. Customers traveling to or from the following locations in Florida will be eligible for Hurricane Irma fee waivers:

— Daytona Beach, FL (DAB)

— Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL)

— Jacksonville, FL (JAX)

— Fort Myers, FL (RSW)

— Orlando, FL (MCO)

— Sarasota, FL (SRQ)

— Tampa, FL (TPA)

— West Palm Beach, FL (PBI)

These reduced fares for one-way direct flights are available through September 13. Details for other customer accommodations and a list of locations customers can receive waivers for in the Caribbean can be found on JetBlue’s special weather update page.

The airline carrier is also adding more flights to their schedule out of select cities in Florida where JetBlue is available.

Other airlines such as Delta and United have also decided to offer similar price reductions for customers wishing to book one-way tickets out of select locations in Florida due to Hurricane Irma.

According to Google Flights, customers can book one-way flights out of Fort Myers, Florida for as low as $123.
