Le Labo makes their Newbury Street debut

Boutique fragrance makers Le Labo have moved into a permanent storefront at 129 Newbury St. More of a fragrance laboratory than a shop, the location offers the core of the brand’s unisex fragrance collection, including addictively spicy Santal 33, deemed a “cult secret, whispered through wafts of sandalwood and cedar, only detected by those in the know,” by the New York Times.

The difference of a Le Labo fragrance starts with its inception — each made-to-order before customers’ eyes. A shop tech combines essential oil concentrate, alcohol and water to create each signature scent upon purchase. The bottles are crimped shut, and shoppers have the option to create their own custom labeling for a truly personalized fragrance experience.

We won’t lie, Le Labo is pricey — a 0.5 ounce perfume rings in at $118, while a standard 3.4 ounce bottle will set you back $450 — but can you really put a price on the ability to linger in a room long after you’ve left it? We didn’t think so.
