Brewery Ommegang Game of Thrones beer Jon Snow HBO King of the North

Ommegang and HBO will honor the King of the North with a new beer this fall.

As part of a special collaboration between the network and the New York brewery, a collection of Game of Thrones inspired brews have been hitting shelves over the past few months. The latest release is a tribute to the popular character Jon Snow, and will mark the final beer in the limited edition series.

“We’ve now arrived at our fourth and final Royal Reserve beer which celebrates Jon Snow with a big, bold, barrel-aged stout for the long cold nights to come,” Jeff Peters, vice president of licensing and retail for HBO, said in a press release. “We expect this one to bring our fans to their feet to toast the King in the North!”

“There was only one character with whom we could end the Royal Reserve Collection,” Doug Campbell, Brewery Ommegang president, said in the release. “I don’t think we’re alone in our hopes for Jon Snow. And for those who missed one of the Collection during the year, we’re pleased to offer the opportunity to get all four at once, along with a glass in which to serve them.”

Ommegang to release Jon Snow beer

As fans prepare for the final season of Game of Thrones to air in 2019, they’ll want to stock up on this special Ommegang brew, which is set to hit draft lines, as well as shelves in 750ml bottles for $12.99, beginning on Black Friday, November 23. A holiday gift pack that comes with a collectible Game of Thrones glass will also be available for $24.99.

According to the release, the King of the North brew is a barrel-aged imperial stout that “pours jet black with a thick tan head,” and features “aromas of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate blend with those of oak, bourbon and vanilla.” So basically Ommegang has brewed a beer that’s perfect for riding out winter. It is coming, after all.

Prior to the Jon Snow beer, the Ommegang and HBO series has paid tribute to other Game of Thrones characters with releases like a barleywine dubbed the Hand of the Queen, a sour blond blend called the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, plus a smoked porter and kriek blend called the Mother of Dragons, which will be released in September.
