A 16-year-old girl was attacked in QueensWednesday morning by a man wielding a knife, police said.
The young victim was pushed by the attacker and then slashed from her ear to her throat with a box cutter, reports said.
The 16-year-old girl was walking to school on 13th Avenue near 147th Street in Whitestone at about 8:20 a.m. when the suspect, reportedly without saying a word, attacked her from behind, police said. The man then took off on 13th Avenue towards 146th Street.
When the assailant fled, the victim made it home and called 911, reports said.
Investigators said the attacker was a man wearing a surgical mask, black hat and white gloves; and that he likely followed the victim, according to published reports.
The victim, a Chinese foreign exchange student who has been here for eight months, reports said, was taken to an area hospital, and is in stable condition.
