Fredericks explained in his confession, according to NBC New York, that watching the trial of former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky triggered him. He admitted that after getting drunk and snorting cocaine he and his accomplice Robert Reynolds drove to Pegg’s home, where Reynolds stood guard as Fredericks attacked Pegg with a hunting knife he had given Fredericks when he was a scout.

“I started stabbing Dennis. I said over and over to him ‘how does it feel raping little kids now?’”Fredericks emotionally confessed. “I also repeated ‘it’s not so fun raping little kids now, is it? At the end I slit his throat.”

The courtroom erupted with applause after his confession.

Today, Fredericks, 50, was sentenced to five years in jail for passion provoked manslaughter by Judge Thomas J. Critchle who according to multiple news outlets showed compassion for Fredericks.

“I am mindful of the fact that the man who is here being sentenced today did this because of what was done to him,” Judge Critchley said during the sentencing.
