Think twice about packing your snow boots until next winter.

There’s a 50 percent chance that snow showers could hit New York City on Friday morning, turning to a rain and snow mix by the afternoon.

Jay Engle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said it’s too early to predict the amount of snow that might fall.

But Engle said the cold air from the system, coming up from the south, has already arrived.

Wednesday afternoon will be breezy, with highs reaching 40 degrees and wind chills making it feel more like 25.

Wednesday night will be very cold for March, Engle said, with lows in the 20s.

Thursday will be sunny with a high of 39, and lows overnight will be around 29 before the possible snow moves through.
