The NYPD is looking for a man they say robbed a taxi driver of more than just a fare in the Bronx early Wednesday.
On June 8 at about 1:18 a.m. the suspect entered the 53-year-old victim’s taxi near Hunts Point and Garrison avenues and posed as a customer, according to police.
When the driver took the man to the vicinity of Drake Street and Randall Avenue, the suspect then grabbed the victim’s cellphone, cops said. The two men then fought inside the vehicle until they both fell out.

The suspect managed to make his way into the driver’s seat and drove away with the taxi, police said. He later abandoned the vehicle in front of 742 Whittier Street and ran away.
Police describe the suspect — who was caught on surveillance video — as a Hispanic man with a beard, 5 feet 9 inches tall and between 150 and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.
