Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken the latest shot in the ongoing battle between himself and President Trump.
The actor and former California governor on Tuesday posted an Instagram video mocking Trump’s low approval ratings in a recent Gallup poll. The president dropped to 37 percent from last week’s 45 percent.
“Oh, Donald, the ratings are in, and you got swamped,” Schwarzenegger said. “Wow. Now you’re in the thirties? But what do you expect? I mean, when you take away after-school programs from children and Meals on Wheels from the poor people? That’s not what you call making America great again.”
He then invited Trump to visit the Hart Middle School not too far from the White House. “I’ll take you there so you can see the fantastic work that they’re doing for the children.”
Like schoolchildren themselves, Trump and Schwarzenegger have been embroiled in a feud since the actor took over as host of “The New Celebrity Apprentice” earlier this year. Itisa rebranding of Trump’s beloved reality show of which he remains executive producer.
Trump previously blasted Schwarzenegger’s “pathetic” ratings on the “great show,” and even asked attendees of the National Prayer Breakfast last month to pray for Arnold and "for those ratings.” Schwarzenegger responded via video challenging the president to switch places. “You take over TV, because you’re such an expert in ratings, and I take over your job. Then people can finally sleep comfortably again,” he said.
Schwarzenegger has since stepped down from the show after its latest season, citing Trump “baggage.” Trump later said he had been fired.
Trump’s Twitter account has been quiet about Schwarzenegger’s ratings shade so far — and in general for the past 14 hours — but we’re getting our popcorn ready just in case.
