Masked thief steals $1,300 in cash from 75-year-old woman in Alphabet City robbery: cops

The NYPD is looking for a thief who robbed and injured a 75-year-old woman in Alphabet City last week.

Police say that at 4:06 p.m. on May 4, the victim was walking near 7th Avenue and Avenue D when the suspect approached her from behind and forcibly grabbed the victim’s purse. As a result, the victim fell to the ground.

The suspect swiped $1,300 in cash from the purse before fleeing northbound on Avenue D. The victim sustained minor injuries to her hip and was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital by EMS.

The suspect is described by the NYPD as a woman with a medium build, standing 5 feet tall and weighing 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing a blue jacket, black pants, black shoes, and a black facemask.
