NFL trade rumors: DeMarco Murray could be headed back to Dallas

If the Cowboys want to keep pace in the NFL East (at 4-3 they trail the 7-1 Eagles by three games), they might need to make a move before the NFL trade deadline passes at 4 p.m.

There has been increased buzzing about a potential move to acquire a running back, with DeMarco Murray and Carlos Hyde the names being tossed around.

Murray makes perfect sense. The Titans seem to be fine at running back with Derrek Henry and may be willing to shed some veteran dollars and open things up for the second-year running back. He has a history, of course, with the Cowboys and has won a rushing title with the team.

Dallas could be in trouble at the position again, as Ezekiel Elliott’s six-game suspension is back on and the Dak Prescott would then need to rely on Darren McFadden (who hasn’t been active all year) or the rarely used Alfred Morris to lead their rushing attack.

The Eagles already made a move today to improve at the running back position, swapping a fourth round pick for Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi. Murray would likely fetch a similar return, perhaps a second or third, or a fourth and a late round pick.

The trade deadline has already been one of the most active in recent memory, with big impact trades like Duane Brown to the Seahawks and Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers going down over the last 24 hours.
