Ramen Bar pop-up debuts at Pabu Boston

Ramen Bar

Local ramen lovers will have a new spot to slurp up noodles this fall thanks to Pabu Boston.

The Izakaya-style Japanese restaurant, located at Millennium Tower, will transform into the Ramen Bar Pop-Up on Sunday evenings beginning Oct. 8. The pop-up pays tribute to San Francisco’s Ramen Bar, a popular fast casual concept created by chefs Ken Tominaga and Michael Mina, who also happen to be the masterminds behind Pabu.

The temporary set-up  hopes to highlight the Ramen Bar’s blensd of California and Japanese cuisine. The pop-up will feature a limited ramen and sushi rolls menu, using Tominaga-inspired ramen recipes designed by executive chef Ben Steigers.

“Ramen is one of my all-time favorite foods and one of the best ways to experience a traditional Japanese meal,” Steigers said in a statement. “There are so many flavors it can bring to life; I cannot wait to experiment.”

The Ramen Bar pop-up won’t be your typical dining experience, as the takeover will also feature hip-hop music, plus drink specials such as beer buckets and “mix and match” boilermakers.

Guests will get the chance to choose from a trio of noodle options, including the light and delicate shio ramen, the darker and ricker shoyu ramen, and mazemen ramen, a brothless-style option featuring garlic sauce. Pork chashu and fried pork gyoza can also be added on, as well as toppings ranging from kinchi and pickled bamboo to pea tendrils and enoki mushrooms.

The Ramen Bar pop-up at Pabu Boston is expected to run through November.
