Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday. Sandoval is said to have suffered a left shoulder strain and the Red Sox say that the injury may have occurred in batting practice. Sandoval lost his starting job at third base to Travis Shaw in spring training. “I still firmly believe that Panda is going to be a contributor to this team,” said Sox manager John Farrell.
Sandoval is 0-for-6 at the plate and has struck out in four of those at-batsso far this season. Shaw is batting .300 in 20 at-bats.
