Second NY prison escapee reported shot by authorities

A state trooper shotthe second escaped New York inmate, David Sweat, who is now alive and in custody,the New York Times is reporting.

Sweat, 35, was reportedly alive and in custody after being shot by a state trooper on Sunday afternoon, according to the Times,near Constable, N.Y.

There were no details about what injuries he sustained.

His fellow escapeeRichard Matt, 49,was slain on Friday by federal agents in the woods near Malone, N.Y.Matt reportedly was pointing a shotgun at the agents when he was shot three times.

Law enforcement found Sweat’s DNA nearby where Matt was killedand reported that they were closing in on him on Sunday.

The two convicted murderers escaped Clinton Correctional Facility more than three weeks ago on June 6. Evidence suggests they may have been living in the woods during that time.
