A serial rapist, who was freed by a jury in 2013 despite being singled out as a repeat offender, was sentenced to life in prison after breaking into an Arlington home, theBoston Heraldreported.
Essie L. Billingslea, 46, received not one, not two, but five life sentences without the possibility of parole for his one count of armed assault, one count of home invasion and three counts of aggravated rape.
Additionally, Billingslea was loaded with sentences of “25 years for breaking and entering to commit a felony, 20 years for assault with intent to rape, 10 years for kidnapping and 25 years of probation for assault with a dangerous weapon,” The Herald reported.
He’s also barred from profiting from the sale of his life story.
Billingslea was found guilty last week on three counts of aggravated rape, kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault in a dwelling, home invasion, and breaking and entering in the daytime, Boston.com reported.
“The defendant in this case was found guilty of numerous charges in connection with the brutal assault of the victim by a stranger in her own home,” District Attorney Marian Ryan wrote in a statement. “Home is the place where people should feel safest, and this victim suffered the loss of that security.”
According to the Herald, “Billingslea’s record includes convictions for the 1986 rape of a 14-year-old girl at knifepoint, a 1988 gang rape of a 13-year-old girl and a 1993 assault on an 11-year-old girl.”
