Solange announces special Boston show to help Harvey victims

Solange

In the wake of Harvey’s devastation, Solange is doing her part to help victims in her hometown of Houston.

The Grammy Award-winning singer announced on Wendesday that she’ll be performing a benefit concert in Boston next month to raise funds for those affected by the hurricane. All proceeds from the special “Orion’s Rise” performance will go towards Harvey relief efforts.

The show is scheduled to take place at the Orpheum Theatre on Sept. 28 and will also featuring an opening performance by jazz group The Sun Ra Arkestra.

Solange wrote in her announcement on Instagram that she’s “committed” to helping the city that raised her.

“I’m committed to partnering with organizations on the ground in Houston and making contributions to uplift the city that raised me with so much love,” the 31-year-old star wrote. “See you September 28th Boston, I thank you in advance for making this a special meaningful night!”

Solange was previously scheduled to perform at this year’s Boston Calling Music Festival, but was forced to cancel the gig at the last minute and was replaced by Migos. However, she did promise to make it up to her fans in Boston, who’ll finally get to see her in town when she takes over the Orpheum Theatre next month.
