Go ahead, think of another actor as beloved as Tom Hanks.

Now that that’s settled, America’s sweetheart is the perfect candidate for a feel-good summer movie night, which is just what’s happening at 28 Liberty Plaza in the Financial District.

This year’s 28 Liberty Summer Film Series, co-produced by the Downtown Alliance and the Fosun Group, is dedicating its entire six-week run starting on  July 27 to Hollywood’s quintessential good guy. You know he’s going to put that airplane in the Hudson River like a boss in “Sully.” It may be 23 years old, but movies don’t get more inspirational than “Forrest Gump.” Even Daryl Hannah finds him irresistible in “Splash,” and they’re not even the same species!

The organizers smartly left off the highly problematic “You’ve Got Mail.” Even though it’s perfectly set in New York, it’s not actually that romantic once you realize he makes Meg Ryan fall in love with him by lying and putting her out of business. Although the buddy comedy B-plot with Dave Chapelle almost makes up for it.

The movies will be projected onto a 15-by-20-foot screen on the plaza every Thursday night until the end of August; showtime is at 8 p.m., and screenings are free, though do bring a blanket and cushion as chairs are not provided.

Free popcorn will be though, and food vendors will be set up around the plaza, too. Conveniently, Thursdays are also Drunken Doughnut Night at the Tuck Room, so swing by the South Street Seaport before the show.

Here’s the full schedule:

July 27: “Forrest Gump”
Aug. 3: “Splash”
Aug. 10: “Catch Me If You Can”
Aug. 17: “Toy Story”
Aug. 24: “Cast Away”
Aug. 31: “Sully”
