Call it buyer’s remorse?

Tom Brady who has made headlines in recent weeks for more than just the Deflategate scandal over his support for Republican candidate Donald Trump, is now reportedly backing down when it comes to an apparent endorsement he gave the billionaire.

In an interview on with Boston radio station WEEI on Monday the New England Patriots quarterback explained what he meant by comments he made earlier this month, according to Politico.

“That would be great. There’d be a putting green on the White House lawn. I know that,” he said then about his hope for the billionaire to win the 2016 race.

Following the remark, the media immediately took his words to mean that Brady was endorsing Trump, along with the “Make America Great Again” red hat that was sent to him by Trump that was sitting in his locker.

But on the radio Monday, Politico reported, Brady had this to say:

“It’s just a different world than when I started in professional football. Even an off-handed comment like that, like you said, that people may run with; and I understand why people do run with it because you get the clicks and that type of stuff. It’s just people doing their job. A comment like that, I try to have fun with certain things.”

Brady added that the election is far from his mind.

“Whatever I vote is going to be my own personal choice based on how I feel. I don’t even know what the issues are. I haven’t paid attention to politics in a long time. It’s actually not something that I really even enjoy. It’s way off my radar,” he said.
