The fourth season of “Bachelor in Paradise” is officially here. Viewers will get a two-night premiere — each running two hours — starting on Monday August 14 at 8pm. As usual, The Bachelor franchise leaves absolutely no time for us to make use of our Monday nights, airing BIP one week after The Bachelorette finale (if you’re not Team Bryan, GTFO).
This season, it looks like Bachelor fans might have to trade in their wine glasses for teacups. Because if Chris Harrison is giving us 4 hours, you know he’s serving some hot tea. Here’s what you need to know before the premiere.
Who’s in paradise
Hot off the latest seasons of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” we have Dean Unglert, DeMario Jackson, Raven Gates, Corinne Olympios, Alexis Waters, Lacey Mark, Kristina Schulman, Danielle Maltby, Jasmine Goode, and Taylor Nolan. Join us in taking a shot everytime Taylor says “emotional intelligence.”
BIP veterans: Amanda Stanton, we’re sorry for your Josh — we mean loss. And Vinny Ventiera, who’s pretty bold to come back after being ghosted midseason.
Stragglers: Robby Hays (Jojo’s runner-up), Nick Benvenutti aka Santa, Alex Woytkiw (Marine/ Twin/ Chad’s enemy), Ben Zorn (the only hot guy from Kaitlyn’s season), and Derek Peth (yeah, we still don’t know.)
The Corinne/ Demario Drama
On the first night of paradise, things got heated between Corinne and Demario in the hot-tub. After watching footage of the scene, a field producer felt uncomfortable and a complaint was filed. There were reports of consensual issues and extreme intoxication, and within days, Warner Brothers suspended the series in order to “conduct a thorough investigation of these allegations.”
The controversy turned into a he said-she said banter of sad tweets, Instagram statements and TV interviews. And for ten days, the world watched Bachelor Nation crumble. Well, until production quickly resumed after no evidence of misconduct was found. The whole cast was invited back but Corinne and Demario amicably decided not to return.
But let’s be honest, the show was probably never off. An added two-drink maximum per hour rule and a shorter time frame to “find love?” Yes. But cancelled? Never. Chris Harrison wouldn’t do that to us.
Besides, there’s always a chance Alexis (aka dolphin girl) will reunite with her family in the ocean and swim away into the sunset. We’ll see.
