Police are investigating the cause of a fiery crash that killed two young people early Friday morning.

Neon Allen, 23, of Mattapan, and Nina Lewis, 24, of Dorchester, died when the 2014 Mercedes-Benz they were riding in skidded off of Bush Hill Road in Milton, hit a tree and burst into flames.

A resident heard the 3:30 a.m. crash and rescued a passenger who was in the back seat, police said.

“A nearby resident, atsignificant risk to their own safety, was able to extricate the 17-year-old male, rear- seat passenger from the vehicle, but due to the fire, was unable to assist the other occupants,” according to a state police statement.

Lewis and Allen, the driver, were pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Milton Fire Department extinguished the fire.
