Get ready for some snow this weekend.
The New York City area is officially under a blizzard watch, according to the National Weather Service, that is set to begin Saturday morning and last through Sunday afternoon. This area includes all five boroughs as well as coastal portions of northeast New Jersey, and Long Island.
This storm, the first of this winter, could bring heavy snow and damaging winds. Snowfall amounts could reach 8 to 12 inches, with winds at 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph.
