A 22-year-old pregnant woman was stabbed to death in the Bronx Friday afternoon and another woman has been taken into custody in her killing, police said.
The incident happened at a home on Monticello Avenue near East 241st Street in the Wakefield section of the borough at about 2:30 p.m, police said.
DNAinfo reported that cops and EMS found "a newborn child and its mother, who had been mortally wounded." The mother later died at the hospital, but the child's condition is reportedly unknown.
A male caller told 911 that his brother's "baby mother" had just given birth and was stabbed several times, sources told DNAinfo.
The motive behind the stabbing may have been an attempt to take the baby, according to media reports.
Police said that a 22-year-old woman is in custody and that charges are pending.
