A woman was caught at JFK Airport with $10,000 worth of cocaine hidden in her vagina.

Authorities found the half-pound of cocaine inserted in Shekira Thompson, 24, last Sunday as she returned to New York from a trip to Jamaica, the New York Daily News reported.

"This seizure is just another example of our CBP officers being ever vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of these illicit drugs," Robert E. Perez, Director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's New York Field Operations, was quoted in the Daily News.

U.S. Customs officials said in a related NJ.com report that they escorted Thompson into a private area where she admitted "inserting a foreign body."

Authorities removed the contraband and determined it was, in fact, 8 ounces of cocaine worth approximately $10,000 on the street, NJ.com added.

After being turned over to the Port Authority Police Department, Thompson was charged with drug smuggling and moved to Rikers Island, the Daily News added.
