Boston rallies for transgender students at State House

“We’re here, we’re queer. We’re fabulous, don’t mess with us.”

These were the chants coming from a group of more than 200 who gathered Sunday at the State House to bring attention to the struggles of transgender and gender non-conforming students.

“The federal roll back on guidance protecting trans youth is an attempt to deny the dignity and humanity of trans people. What’s more, denying access to bathrooms is a tool of systemic violence, attacking the autonomy of trans people in our schools, places of employment, and public spaces,” the Facebook event page stated.

Massachusetts students are still guaranteed use of facilities that confronted with their gender identity.

The rally aimed to draw attention and acceptance for transgender students, who often face bullying and violence in school.
