Last week, President Obama commuted nearly four dozen prison sentences for prisoners who had been imprisoned under mandatory minimum sentencing rules. Naturally, John Oliver took up the issue on "Last Week Tonight," taking viewers through the history of the policy (the uncommonly drug-fearing '80s and '90s) on to a series of modern day prisoners, who are stuck in prison for decades for very minor drug crimes.
