Despite rumors of Jay Z dropping his stake in theBarclaysCenter, he is investing more in the venue by securing a multi-year deal between the venue and Roc Nation, Billboard reported this morning. Roc Nation will have festivals, artist showcases and of course concerts at the venue, including an annual concert by Jay Z himself. Jay Z is also using this opportunity to pump up Tidal, his widely criticized music streaming service, by hosting Tidal-branded events at theBarclaysCenter. “This is exciting for us because it goes so much beyond an artist coming to Barclays as part of a tour,” says Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark of the new contract, adding that Barclays will continue to be a home for Roc Nation artists. This news comes just days after a Long Island woman filed a lawsuit against the Barclays Center after having a man fall on her at a Billy Joel concert, blaming the venue’s narrow seats.
