Police have made an arrest in connection to a series of recent assaults on women walking near Watson Park in Braintree.

Authorities arrested a juvenile who now faces three counts of indecent assault and battery, CBS Boston reported. Police said the juvenile, whose identity has not been released, was recognized by an adult after authorities issued surveillance images of a person of interest in the case.

“These incidents have, understandably, been a cause of great worry in the East Braintree area,” Braintree Police Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement quoted by the Patriot Ledger. “It is important that residents concerned about their safety know that the investigation has progressed to this point and feel reassured in their safety.”

Five women have reported being harassed in the area around Watson Park since June 23, with one woman saying that the assailant followed her home, WCVB reported. The victims stated they were grabbed or slapped.

“It is important to recognize the important part played by the victims coming forward with their information,” Chief Jenkins said to the Patriot Ledger. “We are also thankful to the news media for airing the videos and the district attorney’s office for their assistance throughout the investigation.”

Jenkins added that the department will request a hearing before a district court clerk-magistrate, according to the Patriot Ledger.
