Early into her husband’s presidency, Melania Trump is already over it.

Describing the former fashion model’srise to political prominence as a life she never wanted, sources close to the firstfamily told Us Weekly that Trump is “miserable,” “unhappy” and is “staying hidden.”

The first lady, who currently lives in the family’s Manhattan penthouse at Trump Tower, with her 10-year-old son, Barron, has been largely absent from the Washington, D.C., social scene, and from the president’s official goings-on at the White House.

Reports emerged earlier this month that mother and sonmight never relocate to D.C., contradicting initial reports that they would wait until Barron’s school year ended. His father’s campaign was reportedly difficult forBarron, a fourth-grader at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School.

Also this month, the first lady faced harsh criticism for filing a $150 million suit againstThe Daily Mail, claiming an article that alleged the former model once worked as an escortstripped her of the opportunity to cash inon her star power while her husband is in the White House.

Described as “deeply private,” Trump is “unhappy with how her life ended up,” a family source told Us Weekly. “She is miserable.”

According to the report, the first lady almost never leaves Trump Tower. Before President Donald Trump’s inauguration, the businessman’s third wife would often accompany Barron to and from school in a chauffeured SUV.

Protests outside the building have stopped the practice. Now, Secret Service agents drop off and pick up Barron from his Upper West Side school, the magazine reports.

On Feb. 11, the Trumps hosted Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife, Akie, at Mar-a-Lago — where Melania is reportedly “most happy.” The wives did not accompany their husbands on the golf course, as Michelle Obama and Laura Bush did in the past.

Instead, Trump and Akie Abe toured the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, and the church where the first couple was married in 2005.

The source told Us Weekly: “Don’t let her smile in those photos fool you. She hates this.”

Thank you @morikamimuseum for the inspirational presentation of your sacred gardens & life & culture in Japan
