Forget trick or treating. Forget that turkey and stuffing. Trump Christmas is what POTUS is talking about and visions of tax reform are dancing in his head, even though Halloween is still two weeks away and Thanksgiving more than a month in the future.
On his quest to "Make America Great Again," President Donald Trump has some people curious when America will trick or treat again when he pulled a kid excited for Santa’s gifts and blew right to Christmas during a speech on Tuesday. According to the most recent Trump Christmas rant, what is under the tree?
“Let’s give our country the best Christmas present of all: massive tax cuts,” the president said.
But he didn't stop there. Trump then went full Yuletide:
“And speaking of Christmas... yes? You want to hear it? Speaking ― I’m just talking about Christmas presents, I’ll give you a bigger Christmas present, you’re going to be saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again, OK? You’re going to say ‘Merry Christmas.’
"You know, you go to the stores, and they have the red walls and they have the snow and they even have the sleigh and the whole thing. They don’t have ‘Merry Christmas.’ They don’t have ‘Merry Christmas.’
"I want them to say: ‘Merry Christmas, everybody.’ Happy New Year, Happy Holidays, but I want ‘Merry Christmas.’ We’re going to say it again. It’s happening already.”
Trump Christmas is happening.
It’s “happening already” because Trump is making it a thing (like “fetch” in Mean Girls, except some people actually say “Merry Christmas”). He mentioned “Merry Christmas” on Friday while speaking at an anti-LGBT event. He mentioned it on July 1. It was even part of his 2016 campaign, saying, “We’re going to be saying Merry Christmas again.”
Trump even used “Merry Christmas” multiple times during the “Two Corinthians” speech in January at Liberty University.
Trump hasn’t mentioned Halloween very much, but Team Trump just released an orange, Halloween-themed version of the MAGA hat, with a jack-o-lantern on the front and the slogan “Make America Great Again” on the back.
