2019 Baseball Hall of Fame Tracker: Rivera, Mussina in

Slowly but surely, the Baseball Writer’s Association of America ballots are trickling in as we get a clearer picture of who will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.

With the announcement coming on Tuesday, trackers around the baseball world have a little over half of the ballots (around 210) accounted for.

As it stands, four players are on the verge of being inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, joining the 325 legendary names already enshrined within baseball’s most hallowed ground.

In order to receive induction into the Hall of Fame, a player must receive at least 75-percent of the vote from the over 400 members of the BBWAA. Players on the ballot who receive less than five percent of the vote are immediately removed from future consideration.

In total, there were 35 names on the 2019 Hall of Fame ballot and at least 16 of them are in serious danger of falling beneath the five-percent mark.

Of the four players currently over the 75-percent threshold, two are New York Yankees.

Closer Mariano Rivera could very well set a new record for voter percentage as he currently has appeared on 100-percent of the ballots. Ken Griffey Jr. currently holds the record after receiving 99.32-percent of the vote back in 2016.

It is going to come down to the wire for his former teammate, starting pitcher Mike Mussina, who is currently at 81.2-percent. That number is expected to decrease once more ballots become public.

This could be the year for designated-hitting extraordinaire Edgar Martinez, who is on the ballot for the 10th time. He came agonizingly close in 2018, garnering 70.4-percent of the vote. Almost seven-percent higher than Mussina.

Former Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies ace Roy Halladay is trending over 90-percent in his first year of eligibility. He was tragically killed in a plane crash last year.
