Suspects stole car while pretending to be cops: NYPD

Police are looking for a group of men they say robbed victims in the Bronx while pretending to be police officers.

On Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. the four male suspects stopped their car — a black four-door sedan — behind the victims’ 2009 Chrysler Town & Country minivan at the intersection of Morris Avenue and East 182nd Street.

According to police, the suspects got out of their car and approached the victims’ vehicle, identified themselves as police officers and told the victims — a 47-year-old man, 26-year-old man and 29-year-old man — to step out the van.

One of the four suspects then got into the minivan and fled the scene, while the other three men fled in the sedan.

The NYPD has released video if the incident and described the suspects to be four Hispanic men, between 20 to 35 years old, 5 feet six inches to 6 feet tall, and with medium builds. The men also wore shields around their necks, baseball caps and what appeared to be protective vests — either as a top layer or under their shirts.
