Separate overnight shootings in the East Village and Washington Heights have left two men dead as police continued to search for suspects.

Elliot Caldwell, 23, was shot in the back near an East Village housing complex on East 12thStreet around 10:45 p.m., the New York Daily News reported.

“His eyes were open, but he wasn’t blinking. He was lifeless,” one area resident described the scene to the Daily News.

Police said a witness reported that a man in a red hoodie was running from the area after the incident, according to CBS2.

Later, 41-year-old Dejon McInnis died at Harlem Hospital after a midnight shooting in Washington Heights, NBC4 reported. The victim had been shot in the leg on West 157thStreet.

Police said to NBC4 that no arrests have been made in either shooting.
